The Promise

After yesterday's post about everything in my garden looking awful because it has gone into decay, I decided to go outside and take another look around.

This bud's been picked (almost) clean by the finches and other small birds.

In the human world, going to seed generally means that you've stopped
taking care of your appearance and no longer look attractive.

Going to seed in the world of flowers means you've struggled
from fragile seedling to triumph in glorious bloom.

Now you're on the brink of multiplying yourself by the hundreds,
leaving behind the best gift of all...

The promise of your return next season.

  3. Rosemary, I'm inspired to apply the plant interpretation to humans as well. Not all, of course. But some of us do cultivate graceful aging. All best.

  8. So true! I don't think of fall and winter as a season of death and decay but of renewal. The plants need to rest in order to grow well next year. Wonderful post! :o)
