This was going to be a post about aging beautifully, with this rose as my example, but then something came along and changed everything.
Caught up with trying to get a focused shot of this rose,
I barely noticed the bug that flew into the picture.
I barely noticed the bug that flew into the picture.
What was the chance of it landing
perfectly in my (almost non-existant) depth of field?
perfectly in my (almost non-existant) depth of field?
Not only once, but three times,
in three different positions, in three different pictures.
This bug is my hero!
(I'm pretty sure those aren't wings, it's a cape.)

Look at him posing, so sure I am getting him in focus :)
I think he was sent to encourage me in my macro photography.

Thank you, little bug :)
Sometimes the little surprises are the most wonderful things. :)
ReplyDeleteSo true, Connie, I've always been drawn to looking past the obvious and macro photography is quickly becoming an obsession of mine :)
DeleteIt's a very nice little model.....and your pictures are beautiful Rosemary.
ReplyDeletewarm greetings from Holland, Joop
Thank you Joop, it does look like it is posing just for me, doesn't it :)
DeleteYou don't suppose he knows he was being photographed?
ReplyDeleteSounds creepy huh? :)
I had the same experience when I shoot the blue flowers in my last post.
Coincidence seems more appropriate, I think ;)
The rosebud is gorgeous!!
What's interesting to me is that he knew exactly where to stay to be perfectly in focus! Earlier in the day I was trying to photograph a wasp (3 times the size of this bug) and didn't get one focused shot. I guess it was meant to be :) I agree with you about the bee on your blue flowers, it was the perfect picture!
DeleteProbably the focusing points in your lens lock on to this insect. If you have a matrix of points, you can actually choose a particular one to focus on the insect. Anyway things turn out well for you.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right about the focus points. I am terrible at understanding the nuances of how my camera works and really must find a course to help me out! For now I count on luck, perseverance and nice little bugs who land right in my point of focus :)
DeleteRosemary!
ReplyDeleteHe poses for photos of you. It's a real model.
He sat on the queen of flowers, the rose.
Wonderful photographs.
Lucia
Thank you Lucia, he's the king of this rose for sure!
DeleteSoft, colourful - beautiful. Good pics that may be can be prints on a wall ?
ReplyDeleteThank you Lorents, that's a wonderful complement coming from someone who takes pictures as beautifully as you do :)

DeleteA beautiful little bug - and a perfect poser to boot.
ReplyDeleteMy new little darling :) If you could see how tiny it really is, makes the photo even more special to me!
Deletethe hero is so small..., as any heroes, it will ensure it's appearance really felt!!.... Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thought :) Now I love this little bug even more!
