We both prefer the unscheduled, unmapped, wherever-the-whim-may-take-you style of vacation. Sure, it can be stressful and sometimes we end up hungry, out of gas, going the wrong way on a one way street. But, most of the time
we find one nugget of gold after another.
Here's one that we came across between Le Mans and Saumur, that I like to call "Home Sweet Home".
As with any grand estate this one comes with its own moat and stables.
After walking around the grounds and pretending like this chateau was ours, we jumped back in our rental car (yes, my husband was thrilled when he was offered a Mercedes E-Class at no extra charge), ready for the next discovery!
Love all the old architecture!! And the field of wildflowers are a dream:) We have the same agreement about driving although we are switching off more.

ReplyDeleteSo funny -- I had the same experience in France of getting a Mercedes upgrade at no extra charge. I think it was because I had reserved an Automatic transmission car and they didn't have any others in stock. Is that what happen to y'all?
