Chickadee, Chickadee,
There's a love 'twixt you and me;
Doff your little cap of black,
Whistle low and echo back,
Ever distant, always near,
Spirit of the morning clear,
Elfin spirit of the air,
Twitting, flitting, everywhere,
When the world is cold and gray,
Where the road's a weary way,
Every hill-top rings again,
Lifts me on with your refrain,
Chickadee, Chickadee.

I love these little chickadees, especially in spring, when "the Spring asks the winter to open the door and says: give-me-key!"
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny (and probably true!)
DeleteWhat a great series and the poem... I love it, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Holland,
Anna :-))
Thanks Anna, I'm wondering if you have chickadees in Holland :)
DeleteWonderful close up shots of this bird. I love how they follow you along a winter path. Wonderful buddies to have around us.
ReplyDeleteThey do feel like friends, don't they :) They move around so fast I find it hard to get a focused shot. This was a young one and he was very curious about the camera and I, so he stayed still and watched me while I photographed him.
DeleteSuch lovely photos, I struggle to take pictures of the birds in my garden, they are so camera shy!
ReplyDeleteI usually have the same problem Helene, this was my lucky day for sure :)
DeleteChickadees are such adorable little birds; great captures! Very lovely poem also!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tammy, although I am in awe of the quality of the pictures you take :)
DeleteI have a lot of little chickadees in my garden. I once saw them gang up (mobbing) on a bigger bird to drive it away from a feeder. They're cute but tough!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute birdy))) Love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Sunday, Rosemary!
xoxo, Juliana
