The Journey

They say a journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step...

Followed by another

and many more.

  1. Dear Rosemary,
    Great photos of these footsteps!
Did you also follow this guy those thousand miles?

    1. This guy, a squirrel, is underneath my bird feeders every day, I never have to follow him because I know he'll be back :)

    3. This guy is not so much brought up well, as he is well-fed :)

  2. . . . and if you're fortunate, you don't leave too many footprints that go in circles.

    1. Haha Lee, I see you've guessed that these footprints belong to a squirrel, round and round, back and forth he goes :)

    2. Indeed, I'm well acquainted with squirrels, with whom I share outdoor table space. They're also fond of eating on top of stones and cairns. Send me some snow so I can compare their prints with yours.

  4. Lovely photos, Rosemary, I didn't guess it was from a squirrel, but then we don't have snow very often so I don't see their foot prints! We do however have plenty of squirrels!! They are really bad in my garden right now, digging up my crocus bulbs and coming with peanuts they store everywhere for later in the winter. I am forever trying to clear up after them.

    1. Helene, this is the time of year I like the squirrels the most because they are hibernating for the most part :) Either way they can't dig up the garden because it is frozen! Hope you have a wonderful holiday Helene.

  5. Dear Rosemary - thank goodness the journey still continues and did not end as predicted by some today. We can all now take our footsteps into 2013 with that assurance.
I have loved our exchanges of the past few months and enjoyed your exquisite photos accompanied by your poetic wording.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas with your family and a very Happy New Year.

I have enjoyed the artful photos from your garden and all over the world and am in awe of your talent to fill your posts with history, leaving me wiser and thoroughly entertained.

Merry Christmas to you and your family as well Rosemary, and a Happy New Year.
