The most delicate blue
It's rare to find a flower that is beautiful, uniquely coloured, hardy, easy to grow and disease resistant.
This is the current star in my August garden - my Hibiscus "Blue Satin" also called "Rose of Sharon." I bought it in a 10inch x 10inch pot two years ago and it has already grown to 6 feet tall by 4 feet wide.
There are plenty of seedlings growing at its base and I am dreaming of creating a fantasy forest in blue!

DeleteAmazing color, I might have to look into that variety for my garden. It probably wouldn't last through the winter, but I would haul in a big heavy pot indoors every Autumn in order to have flowers like that in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI'm Zone 3 and tented this hibiscus with burlap over the winter. It's slow to get leaves, so by late spring I'm out there every day looking for signs of life, fingers crossed. It hasn't let me down yet!
DeleteHello there! You've hit upon my favorite colored flowers. I love the reds and oranges....but the hues of blues are what make me smile:) That first shot is stunning. It reminds me of the blue roses I grew here 2 years ago. Wonderful!

DeleteForest in blue is a pink dream, Rosemary! I love blue hibiscus, but I can't have it in my zone 5.
ReplyDeleteNadezda, thank you for making me laugh, I often have pink dreams! How come you can't have this plant in Zone 5? I'm Zone 3-5, isn't 3 colder than 5? They are making this series of hibiscus very hardy and I hope you can have one in your garden too :)
