Tired of paddling in the frigid pond
the ducks are on the move.
Spring has tickled the earth beneath the snow
and they forage for the vegetation that begins to grow.
They're funny
these forest ducks,
wiggling their way
around branch and tree,
maneuvering over root and snag.
With bright orange snowshoes
they waddle along
With an occasional stumble and flap
when one foot sinks too deep.
They look at home,
snuggled
in their warm brown
feathers.
Of course they'd like the snow.
It's nothing more than frozen water :)
Hello Rosemary!
ReplyDeletePictures of ducks, lovely.
I wish you Happy Easter.
I send kisses.

Myślę, że kaczki mimo iż sobie dają radę, chciałyby też już wiosny. Zdjęcia są wspaniałe. Pozdrawiam cieplutko.

Great pieces of photography, the Mallard Ducks are my favourite Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteLovely duck pictures Rosemary....specially that first one.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Joop
These are such perfection they almost don't look real!
ReplyDeleteThe colors of these Mallards contrast beautifully against the crisp white snow! I bet they are looking forward to the spring as well:)
ReplyDeleteAren't they sweet? And the jewel-toned green on the mallards is just gorgeous. I remember them at my university campus; I'd feed them and even carry them -- they were quite sociable really lol!
ReplyDeleteOh my, these pictures are stunning!
ReplyDeleteThese poor ducks. Wish better days are coming for you and them.
ReplyDeleteI love all the pictures. Did you get to catch them stumbling?
They sure love the attention you giving them.
See their eyes :)
Rosemary, great photos! The wood ducks and white snow, poor things!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!
Wau - where some great pictures you took of some beautiful ducks. Wish you a happy Easter :) Hanne Bente
ReplyDeleteThose ducks look so adorable and so do your pictures! Have a great Thursday, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo Rosemary, they are all very good, sharp and well exposed.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Irma
heel mooi om ze zo in de sneeuw te fotograferen.
ReplyDeleteRosemary, I've long seen painters and carvers try mightily to portray the beauty and elegance and knowingness of ducks. Some come close. But you and your camera make them live.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of ducks and snow in these pics - believe it or not I don't think I've ever seen it before!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning photos--The ducks could not be more beautiful. I just wish they weren't standing on snow--Will warmer weather ever come and stay?
ReplyDeleteRealmente preciosas todas las tomas, espectaculares!!
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo grande.
Lovely pictures Rosemary, but I feel for those ducks, it must be cold on their feet! I hope you see an end to the snow soon and get warmer weather. Here in London we don't have to battle with snow but we still have winter temperatures, with well below minus Celsius at night and not much more during the day. Coldest March since 1962! I wish you a great Easter!
ReplyDeleteHallo Rosemarie
ReplyDeleteI adore ducks, we call them in Italian "Germano Reale". The pictures 1, 2 and the last one are my favorites, their sweet expression is alwass impressing!!
Happy Easter to you and your family, hoping, without snow!
Dany
Ohhh I love them and you have captured them so beautiful, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter and warm greetings,
Anna
Wonderful photos, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteHahaha... did you lie in the snow to get down at their level???!!
The result is stunning! ;-)
You make very clear how beautiful wild ducks are.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful series Rosemary!
