Goin' on a walkabout!
Hmmm... unusual tracks in the snow today.
I found a long wavy line with the occasional dip on the sides.
My first thought was someone dragging a stick, but where are the accompanying footprints?
Wondering what it could be, I followed it for a while.
The tracks led me to a crow squaredance pattern at the base of a nearby tree.
Must have done a little happy dance at finding something to eat underneath the snow!

Love's Price
Love's Price
Right from the start,
You stole my heart.
Your crooked grin,
Made my heart spin.
Went for a ride,
On the wild side.
Before too long,
Our love went wrong.
And now I see,
You lied to me.
You broke my heart,
Tore it apart.
I rolled the dice,
And paid love's price.
Sad to behold,
A heart gone cold.

Timeless Grace
Timeless Grace
You look weathered and worn,
Alone and forlorn,
Aloof, and lost in place.
This winter’s been cold,
It’s made you look old;
Deep furrows line your face.
I stop in my tracks,
Fingers tracing the cracks,
Feel the years, the timeless grace.
Your arms are quite long,
And surprisingly strong;
I’m crushed in your embrace.
I fall under your spell,
With the stories you tell,
About an older time and place.
Always be here,
‘Cause to me it’s quite clear,
You’re something we can’t replace.

Beauty where you least expect it.
Cresting waves of side-swept snow,
Create a mountain range born low.
Weathered by the salt and sun,
An icy reef of lace, finespun.
Steppes of darkness twist to shape,
A gothic, dusty, snow landscape.
No ocean creatures swim nearby,
It's a lack of life you signify.
Beautiful beyond belief,
Behold the Great Corrosion Reef.

What has happened to the Frog King?
It was back in the heady days of Fall that the Frog King,
dazzled by the glory of the colours around him,
voiced a desire to remain above ground for the winter.
Knowing the foolishness inherent in this decision, the Royal Advisor voiced his concern. His advice fell on deaf ears as the King defiantly decided to test his strength against that of mighty Winter.
Faithful servant that he was, the Royal Advisor chose to remain by the King's side, though he turned his back to him, to mark his point.
One blustery December night he lost sight of the King and has sat alone, stone-faced and grim, ever since. He remains resolutely in place, knowing he must wait for Spring before he can begin the grisly search for the impetuous King.

Side by Side
Side By Side
(adapted from the song)
Oh, standing out here with my honey,
Lookin’ all ragged and funny;
But we’re where we belong, singin’ our song,
Side by side.
Don't know what's comin' tomorrow,
Maybe it's trouble and sorrow;
I’ll put up with the snow,it’s worth it, you know
Side by Side.
Through all kinds of weather,
What if the sky should fall;
Just as long as we're together,
It doesn't matter at all.
When they've all had their quarrels and parted,
We'll be the same as we started;
We’re where we belong, singin’ our song,
Side by Side.
Every time that I’ve started to tremble,
And when I’m hittin’ the gravel,
There’s one pal who’ll be always with me,
Side by side.
Now it isn’t a gal or a fella’,
But I’m all ready to tell ya’
That things are okay, just as long as we stay,
Side by side.
Other pals may shake me
Till my leaves are all gone,
But this pal will make me, keep carrying on.
And soon sweet spring’ll be coming,
I see you and start singing;
And that’s how we lose, the winter blues,
Side by side.
