This weed-like, invasive creature
had full run of the garden
when we first moved into our house.
I have tried to contain it to one,
small but generous section of my flower beds...
Each Spring it outruns my fingers and shovel,
skipping along the top of the soil,
racing ahead of me
to wherever it wants.
~
In just one day
I discover it in a variety of new places
In just one day
it sends out roots for hundreds more
In just one day
it's a lime-green tight-budded rocket
In one more day
it bursts into a flaming yellow geodesic dome
In one more day
it relaxes into a lemon-yellow haze.
And on that day
I have no idea why I ever wanted to pull it out.

Indeed, it's an invasive weed, but also beautiful in its own way. Especially on a dull day the sunny yellow colour is a delight. On your photos they even look better than ever.
