Deep Purple Dreams

"When the deep purple falls
Over sleepy garden walls

And the stars begins to flicker in the sky

Through the mist of a memory
You wander back to me

Breathing my name with a sigh."
(From the song Deep Purple, by Parish Mitchell)

This deep purple Columbine (Aquilegia)
planted itself in my front garden several years ago.

It has grown huge and when in full bloom,
blocks the pathway to our front door.

Although it is inconvenient and out of place,
I wouldn't even think of moving it.

Bloom where you're planted,
Or in this case,
Where you plant yourself :)

  1. The habit of planting themselves in the most unlikely spots is an endearing habit of columbines! I love the way you illustrate the tiny worlds that we gardeners admire so. We are lucky as we still have this child like wonder and I pity poor non gardeners who don't seem to notice.

  2. Beautiful pictures of Columbine, so sharp and with lots of details.
    The color is great.

I hope again what to do, after next week.
Give now occasionally some comments, but I am far from fit, I've got bronchitis.
Thanks for the kind words, that I'm sick.
    Regards, Irma

  14. Czasami kwiaty wysiewają się nie tam gdzie chcielibyśmy, ale można im na to pozwolić, bo są śliczne. Pozdrawiam.
Sometimes flowers wysiewają is not where we would like, but you can let them do it because they are beautiful. Yours.

  15. Rosemary,
I love columbines but hadn't some of this wonderful color. I say 'had' because they died when I decided to move them closer to the pond. Then I've read that columbines have long deep in depth roots and I perhaps damaged them.
    Happy hardening!
