"I like Spring, but it is too young.
I like Summer, but it is too proud.
So I like best of all Autumn, because its tone is mellower,
its colours are richer, and it is tinged with a little sorrow.
Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of Spring,
nor the power of Summer,
but the mellowness and kindly wisdom
of approaching age.
It knows the limitations of life and is content."

Hello Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteI also like autumn colorful, sunny, beautiful ..
Beautiful autumn, as in your photos.
Have a nice weekend.
Lucia
Thank you Lucia, I'll enjoy the autumn as long as it wishes to stay :)
DeleteBeautiful poem, Rosemary! And your pictures are amzing! The beauty of autumn.
ReplyDeletegreetings,
Willy
Thank you Willy, I love the golden colours :)
DeleteI meant your pictures are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteLoved your photos!
ReplyDeleteAutumn is one of my favorite seasons. After the riot of color, there's a kind of a somber, solemn peace that I find so comforting.
It's true Connie, everything has become uni-tone and now it's all about shapes and textures :)
DeleteI just love your blog. Beautiful. And especially this one about Autumn. Its nostalgic because it reminds me of my student days in the US.
ReplyDeleteThank you, there's something about this colour palette that makes things appear to be olden-day and dreamy :)
DeleteThere is something of sadness in your photos, Rosemary. Nice shots!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Nadezda, sad but still beautiful :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures and beautiful words Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day, Irma
Thank you Irma :)
DeleteNice capture of the golden light!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, at this time of year and day the sky colours everything in a soft golden light :)
DeleteGreat pics to suit the words, and/or... vice versa! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAutumn is a beautiful season, quite mellow indeed but it also announces winter, too cold for me!
Cheers Rosemary!
It's true, the cold is just around the corner :)
DeleteSon preciosas estas imágenes!!.Te confieso que la primera es mi favorita, ha de ser por su colorido.Feliz fin de semana!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Silvina :) I hope you have a wonderful week :)
DeleteIt is interesting to think of how each season has its own "feeling" that can felt by those observing and experiencing the changes. I grew up in the north where I was used to experiencing the changes that came with the entrance of a new season...I miss that. I don't miss long winters though. Hope you have a great weekend, Rosemary!
ReplyDeleteI think the four seasons that we experience are my favourite part of living in Quebec, you never have a chance to be bored! I do long for some of the birds I see on your blog though...
DeleteGorgeous tribute to a beautiful season. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOne more of fall's beautiful transformations!
DeleteThat's a beautiful verse and your photos exemplify it so well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I guess I'm now old enough to appreciate the value behind the words :)
DeleteSuperb photography Rosemary :)
ReplyDeleteSplendid colors of late autumn.
And your last picture is amazing!
It truly reflects the poet's phrase of "approaching age"!
Thank you Ash, I really like that last photo as well :)
DeleteBeautiful photos Rosemary, and today is first day of winter at least here in London where I live. We have a cold snap right now, it's below minus (Celsius) and that's cold for London. Take care :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope things warm up for you in London, nature has been very unpredictable lately!
DeleteBeautiful shots to support the quote. It's so true. Fall is wonderful. Here it's loved for not only the cooler temps....but for gardening. The plants actually do "relax" more from the stress of summer. Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThat's so interesting, our winter means it's too cold to garden while your's makes it cool enough to garden. Looking forward to see what you're planning to do!
DeleteSo much work and not enough not time. I've become a bad blogger. I can't keep up. Last night I fell asleep at the keyboard writing. Your pictures are so wonderful...winter solstice:)
DeleteGdyby jesień zawsze była taka ozłocona, jak na Twoich ślicznych zdjęciach, to bym ją polubiła. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteIf the fall was always the gold-plated, for your lovely photos, I would have liked it. Yours.
It's true Giga all the other colours have left, except gold :)
DeleteBeautiful post and photos, Rosemary.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, the weather has been very nice lately!
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gary :)
DeleteHi Rosemary, yes we have the same hobbies. Too bad you live in Canada and I in Holland, otherwise we could take some pictures together and share our passion, nature and photography.
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Willy
