"I think it must be good, Mama,
Therefore I'll have a treat,
For if its look so pretty be,
It must be good to eat."
"Ah! Dearest child," Mama replied,
"Thou dost not seem aware,
That many a gilded bait without
Conceals an inward snare.
Those ruby clusters there, that rise
And catch thy longing eye,
Are like the fruit of ancient date,
But eat, and thou shalt die."
Your berry photos do look good enough to eat, I also loved those black ones you showed before.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosemary, it's interesting how the colour of the berry affects the mood of the picture.

DeleteHello Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot!!
Nice to see these delicious berries hanging with the snow.
Beautiful the red color.
Greetings, Marco
Hello, Marco, nice to meet you. Thank you for your kind words.
DeleteThey are beautiful. I know not to eat white berries, but I probably would have been fooled by those red berries, too! Good poem to remember!
ReplyDeleteHello, HolleyGarden, thanks for stopping by. I'm going to be visiting your rose garden often because roses are one plant that I love, but do not have. The climate here is just too stressful for them.
