February is a dreamy month for me because I need to escape from it. The sky is grey and the temperature outside has warmed up enough to expose the yellows and browns in the snow left on our yards. Definitely not an attractive month for Mother Nature; maybe that is why it is the shortest month of the year.
When I come across photos from last summer, in this case I'm comparing our swimming pool today (above) and six months ago (below)... I realize that February is necessary. It's "the month of doing without," that allows me to appreciate everything I would otherwise take for granted.

I guess you're right. If it were summer days all the time, we would not appreciate the blooms.
ReplyDeleteWhen everything is covered in white it is a visual treat, but this grey-covered land has no redeeming qualities and I truly can't wait for Spring!
DeleteDear Rosemary - what a contrast in the images. My brother lives in Canada and during February and March he and his wife escape to Florida. I think that Canadians who do so are known as Snow Birds.
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary, you are exactly right, the winter escapees are known as Snow Birds or The Lucky Ones:)
DeleteI love the way you think!! So true...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for following me. It lead me to your blog.. Such beautiful photos here..
Thank you, Linda, there's nothing I enjoy more than finding new friends:)
DeleteSuch a contrast! I think you need a mini vacation to some warm beaches...just for a week. I used to live in Wisconsin and this was the roughest time of year for me so I always gave myself a trip for a week somewhere warm. Or was that March?:) Another cold month, but I always found it toyed with my emotions....that one week of "warm" weather followed by a blizzard! Love your sequence of shots.
ReplyDeleteWisconsin does indeed have some harsh temperatures. I do like to complain but the cold weather actually allows me to get work done inside the house because if it was up to me (and the weather allowed it) I would spend the whole year outside! Thanks for stopping by:)
DeleteHello Rosemary,
ReplyDeleteI understand your words. The summer gives more happiness.
Nice to see the different of a half year ago. Great that you have your own swimming pool. Delicious on a hot summer day.
Greetings, Marco
Hi Marco, I think the contrast of ice to water within a six month period is just another example of the power of nature. You're right, on a hot summer day, we definitely enjoy our swimming pool. Thanks for your visit:)
