Wonderful Weeds!

Common Knapweed...
The name hardly does it justice.

Centaurea, it's proper name,
suits it much better.

It sounds like a secret
and hints at a history of magic and mystery.

This weed casts a spell on me
every spring.

Its long ghostly fingers
and shimmering colours

catch my eye
and draw me in
closer
and closer.

  1. This is gorgeous! I so love cornflowers, didn't know they were called Knapweed, learned something new today ;) We call them 'Korenbloemen' (cornflowers) in Dutch. I love your macro photography.
I sowed some cornflowers two weeks ago and they are sprouting. In a container because the garden hasn't enough light for them to grow there. I wonder if they'll do ok and will be posting photos if they ever bloom. Cross our fingers!
